The Food and Drug Administration has just released new information regarding the correlation between the use of acetaminophen and liver damage. Acetaminophen is an ingredient in aspirins as well as other medications used in dental pain management. Some examples of these are Percocet and Vicodin. At this point they still consider these medications to be safe for short term use with healthy patients. They may consider changing the reccomended dose. It is important for our patients to be honest and discuss any health concerns with health care providers so they are treated with the best care possible. This month, Nikki and her husband Nick have purchased a beautiful new home! It was lacking the care and attention it needed, so they are in the middle of many detailed remodeling projects. New walls, new kitchen and new floors! They are spending all their extra time and energy after their already long work hours, learning all the tricks of the trade and making the place their own. We can’t wait to see the final product and we are defiantly looking forward to the house warming party!

As summer vacations begin and many of our college age students are traveling home, many parents are excited and anxious to schedule them to come in for their routine dental visit. It is so important not to forget the significance of dental cleanings and exams while college students are busy and away at school. Most of our patients do their best to arrange their schedules so that they are seen during summer, but our appointments are booking up quickly! Consider this: an average dental hygiene appointment can take 1 to 6 weeks to schedule depending on the individuals flexibility. If any cavities are detected at the exam, we will also need time to schedule them to see one of our doctors for the restorative work. We are doing our best to add hours as needed and meet the needs of our patients and look forward to seeing all of you soon!

Katie, one of our dental assistants, has a new addition to her family. Her and her husband Brian adopted 1 year old Sammy, a Beagle-Jack Russel Terrier mix from the Wisconsin Humane Society.
