Straighten Your Smile with Ease Using Invisalign

October 15, 2014

177000598Having a beautiful, straight smile is something that many people strive for, and they are willing to go to great lengths in order to achieve it. If you have always wanted a straight smile but have been deterred because of the idea of having a mouth full of metal, you may be living with a smile that you are merely settling for. If you have a smile that is misaligned or gapped, you may feel as though you will not be able to achieve the smile of your dreams while still being able to look like your natural self. If you feel as though that is the case, you no longer need to worry. Our doctors are able to align your smile with absolute ease by offering Invisalign to their patients.

One of the amazing things about Invisalign is the fact you are able to gently straighten your smile without being obvious about your treatment. When you come in for your appointment, our doctors will be able to sit down and discuss your wants and needs, deciding whether or not Invisalign is right for you. They will take impressions of your smile, and send them to a dental lab to have your aligning trays made. Each tray is custom made just for you, and each one signifies a new stage in your straightening process. By having the trays made just for you, this ensures amazing results and a personalized treatment. The trays sit nearly invisibly on your smile, so you are able to smile and communicate with confidence! All you have to do is wear each tray for a certain amount of time, and when you are ready to begin the next phase of your straightening process, simply remove the aligner you are wearing and apply the next one in the set! If you would like our doctors to help you straighten your smile using Invisalign, contact our office, and we would love to help!

Quick tips to keeping a healthy smile!

On a daily basis, we put our teeth through a lot of work! While those pearly whites are helping you to smile, bite into those yummy sandwiches and chew up that fantastic food, we need to remember to keep them safe from gum disease, breaking and decay. Follow these simply steps to lower your risks:

Use your teeth for biting and chewing food. Contrary to what a lot of us do, teeth are not made for removing tags from that adorable new shirt you just bought. Or as a bottle opener! Yup, we’ve seen it all. Using your teeth for things like this can cause to chips, cracks or breaks. Don’t worry, if you didn’t read this blog in time, we are only a phone call away and can get you fixed!

Avoid sipping on juice, sports drinks, coffee, soda and diet soda all day. These liquid sugars and acids pose a much lower risk when they are consumed with a meal. Just remember the catchy phrase: “Sip all day, get decay.”

Brush twice daily and floss daily! Rinse with water between meals or chew sugar free gum. Having these simple things in your routine greatly reduce your chances of getting gum disease, cavities and build up.

See your favorite Elmbrook Family Dental team members twice yearly for routine cleanings, exams and x-rays. Early detection and prevention lead to lower cost dental visits in the future!

What is Xylitol?

August 28, 2014

Filed under: News — elmbrookfamilydental @ 8:55 pm

Many of you have consumed xylitol and didn’t even know it. So let us tell you a little bit about what it is, and how it can help improve your dental health.

Xylitol is a product often used as a sugar alternative. It is the main ingredient in a few common sugar free chewing gums than many of us chew. It is what makes your piece of gum sweet and tasty! So, how is it so good for your teeth? Use of xylitol through chewing gum, xylitol mints, toothpaste or other products may lower your risk of getting tooth decay by a third. It helps to stimulate a healthy salivary flow and can promote remineralization of enamel. Less cavities? Sounds good to us!

Next time you’re in the check out lane at the grocery store, stop and check out labels on the sugar free gum. Consider chewing a piece after meals, or when your mouth is feeling a little dry. Xylitol products and a good water intake can play a key role in pushing off your next trip to the dentist.

Brighten Your Smile with Teeth Whitening

August 27, 2014

470755023One thing that many people strive for is a bright, dazzling smile. When you see smiles in the magazines and on television, one thing they all have in common is the fact that their teeth are white and beautiful. Unfortunately, not everyone is secure in their smiles, and can really have an impact on the way they feel about themselves. Our smiles collect stains over time, and it can really affect the way your smile looks as a whole throughout the years. Though you may feel as though there is nothing you can do, our doctors are able to brighten your smile the way you want by offering teeth whitening to their patients at their Brookfield, WI dental office.

There are so many things that contribute to our smiles dulling over the years, such as coffee, wine, tea, certain medications, genetics, aging, and dyes in food. We offer both Zoom! Whitening and Kör Deep Bleaching to our patients, ensuring your results are amazing. We offer our patients a couple of options to whiten their smiles, ensuring your absolute comfort and convenience. With in-office teeth whitening, we are able to dramatically improve the look and brightness of your smile in as little as an hour. When you come in for your appointment, we will place the whitening gel onto your smile and activate it with a light. In about an hour, your smile will be up to eight shades whiter!

The second option is at-home teeth whitening, which really appeals to those who wish to have a more gradual change in their smile. We will custom make whitening trays just for you, making sure your results are amazing and also offering a personalized cosmetic treatment. We will also give you the whitening gel, allowing you to fill the trays with the whitening gel at home. All you have to do is wear the trays for a certain amount of time each day, and in about two weeks, your smile is bright and mesmerizing! If you would like our doctors to help brighten your smile using teeth whitening, contact our office today!

Restore Your Smile with Dental Implants

July 25, 2014

480753457When you have teeth missing from your smile, you may find it difficult to live the life you truly want to live. Having a smile that is not complete can be detrimental to the way you feel about yourself, as well as the way you interact with the people around you. Many people consider a smile a first impression, and if that is compromised in a negative way, the effects can be detrimental. Our smiles are what we use to show friendliness to others, communicate, and nourish ourselves, and not having a smile you are proud of can put all of that at risk. Thankfully, our doctors are able to give you the smile you have always wanted by offering dental implants at their Brookfield, WI dental office.

Many people may not know this, but if you have a smile that is not complete, it can put your mouth and your body at risk. When you have teeth missing from your smile, it puts you more at risk for gum disease, TMJ, bone loss, tooth loss, a misaligned bite, can cause the other teeth in your mouth to shift in order to make up for the extra space, and much more. It is very important to rectify the issue as soon as you can. Unlike dentures and partials, dental implants are a permanent solution to your smile woes, allowing you to feel secure at all times.

Drs. Brunner, Taibl, and Tack work closely with an oral surgeon who places your implants. It is important to first have a consultation, as we will have to evaluate the current state of your smile and determine whether or not dental implants are right for you. You will also be able to use that time to bring up any questions or concerns you may have about the procedure, as we want you to feel as comfortable throughout the entire process as possible. Once the implants are placed, there will be a healing period where the implant will fuse with your jaw bone, generating new bone growth. The implant replaces the missing tooth root, allowing for your smile to be as healthy as possible. Once the healing time as passed, our doctors will restore your implant with a crown. The crown exactly resembles a tooth, allowing for your new smile to look as natural as possible. If you would like our doctors to help you restore your smile using dental implants, contact our office today!

Today we celebratedaa Dr Tacks 33rd birthday with some yummy (but mostly healthy) snacks! Dr Tack enjoyed a dinner at Harbor House with some of her good friends on Monday. She was able to spend some time with her Mom and got a mani/pedi, and also got her groove on to some great reggae music at the Skyline Music festival. She enjoyed every moment of the great music despite the rain.

We hope you had a wonderful birthday Dr Tack! We are thankful to be able to celebrate with you and are so glad you’re part of the team.

Get A Perfect Smile For Summer With Porcelain Veneers!

June 10, 2014

don't they just look splendid? One of the biggest things people are doing right now is preparing for summer. Getting their beach bodies ready and buying all of the food to make for the perfect outdoor barbeque, everyone is excited to finally be able to let their hair down and have some fun in the summer sun! One thing people may be overlooking is revamping their smile! If you have crooked, misaligned, chipped, or stained teeth, you may feel as though your smile will never be exactly the way you want it. There is no doubt you will meet many new people and reconnect with old friends this summer, and you may find it important to look the best you can. Fortunately, our doctors are able to give you the smile of your dreams thanks to porcelain veneers.

The start to getting your porcelain veneers begins with a consultation with our doctors. There, they will be able to fully assess your smile in its current state, as well as ask you about your future goals regarding your smile. This will also give you the chance to address any questions or concerns you may have, as we want you to be fully informed throughout the entire procedure. Once it is determined that you are a candidate, that is where the real fun begins!

Your natural tooth is prepared for your porcelain veneers by removing a small bit of enamel. This way, we are sure your mouth has enough space for your new smile! Your custom made porcelain veneers are then added, and are made permanent with dental resin cement. A simple procedure, but at the end, you are left with a completely new smile that anyone would be proud of showing off! If you are curious as to how we can help give your smile the makeover you deserve just in time for summer with porcelain veneers, make an appointment today, and the entire Elmbrook Family Dental team will be glad to help!
