Invisalign Newbie Guide
- Wear your trays 22 hours per day, only taking them out to eat. You may drink clear liquids, but anything dark such as coffee or tea will stain the trays.
- After you eat, brush and floss your teeth if possible. If that isn't possible, rinse your mouth with water before inserting your trays.
- Use your Munchie every time you insert your trays, chewing for approximately 20 seconds per tooth. You may also use your Munchie at any other time during the day to help stimulate tooth movement. Aim for around ten minutes per day.
- Download the "My Invisalign” app and use your virtual care kit to track your progress. Take new pictures every time you switch your trays if desired. You may message your dentist on the app, but there is not a chat feature. If you have any questions, please contact our office.
- To care for your trays, use the Invisalign Cleaning Crystals several times per week. In the morning when you wake up, please do the following steps. Remove your trays, brush your teeth, and brush and rinse your trays. Do not use any harsh chemicals such as bleach or abrasives. If the trays become stained, you may contact your dentist for new ones, or depending on how many days you have left, just switch to the next tray.
- Monitor the tracking of your trays by ensuring a tight fit as shown to you during the delivery appointment. If you notice that a tooth is not fitting tightly to the tray, increase the use of your Munchie. If you still notice it after two days, please contact your dentist as you may need a new scan and new aligners.
- If you lose a tray, we can order you a new one. It is best to keep your previous tray so that you will have something to wear in the event you lose one. Please call the office to discuss the next steps.
- If you lose an attachment, don't panic! Just call the office to come in for a replacement.
- Keep your aligners away from pets and store them in their case when not in use.
- It is normal to have some soreness and discomfort the first few days of each tray. If needed, take Tylenol to minimize discomfort. Do not take Ibuprofen!
