Why Do We Snore?
Snoring is a very common and often overlooked issue in many adults today. The most common reason for snoring is when the elasticity of the soft palate is relaxed from age, or the overall volume of the throat is reduced due to weight gain. As air flows across the lax soft palate, vibrations can occur that disrupt sleep patterns for the snorer and their partner. The result is a dramatic decrease in the quality of one’s sleep, leading to problems throughout the day as well as long-term health concerns.
Snoring can be an indication of a condition known as Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), which can dramatically affect the amount of oxygen provided to the body during sleep. As many as 23% of adults over the age of 65 suffer from sleep-related disorders such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea. These sleep events can lead to long-term effects such as low blood-oxygen saturation which go beyond daytime drowsiness and have been proven to decrease neurocognitive performance. Low oxygen saturation also increases the general risk of all-cause mortality. According to a group of studies collected by the ADA, patients suffering from OSA are two to three times more likely to be involved in a motor vehicle accident.
Does DEKA QuietNite treat sleep apnea?
No. DEKA QuietNite is not a treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea. OSA should be diagnosed and treated by a health care specialist and in conjunction with your dentist. Talk to your dentist about using DEKA QuietNite in conjunction with a sleep study and professional sleep treatment. One simple DEKA QuietNite treatment can provide quick relief from snoring and improve the quality of sleep.
Why DEKA QuietNite?
Although snoring is just one symptom of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, it is the largest and most affecting. And when it comes to relieving patients of that symptom, DEKA QuietNite is best for the job.
By using revolutionary laser technology and the power of CO2, DEKA QuietNite treatment can relieve a patient of snoring symptoms in less than ten minutes.
A True, Non-Contact Laser
With ideal penetration depth, DEKA lasers are the gentlest and most precise on soft tissue. No tips to initiate, and no disposables.
Better Healing, Better Pain Management
CO2 reduces post-op pain and sensitivity by sealing nerve endings. There is also a reduced inflammatory response — I.E., less swelling, and faster healing. Blood vessels are sealed as well, reducing the need for sutures. And, because CO2 energy kills bacteria on contact, there’s no risk of cross-contamination.
DEKA QuietNite features the state-of-the-art pain management qualities offered by CO2. Because of how gentle the procedure is, patients experience little to no pain during the procedure or post-operatively.
Greater Versatility
With DEKA QuietNite, DEKA Smart US-20D has the broadest range of soft tissue procedures any laser on the market can offer. And, because it’s the easiest to use and sports the shortest learning curve of any laser, that means the greatest return on investment.
DEKA QuietNite is just one of many treatments and procedures DEKA Smart US-20D can perform. From frenectomies and tongue ties to vestibuloplasty and incisions, DEKA has the options covered.
How long do DEKA QuietNite results last?
Snoring often does not have a single pathogenesis and can originate from several risk factors. Though DEKA QuietNite is effective in treating the soft palate and surrounding structures, the same symptom of snoring can return over time. The elastic tissue of the soft palate makes it perfectly normal for collagen to relax over time to return to the same state as it was before treatment.
Ease of use for the treatment means that DEKA QuietNite can be used quickly and frequently. For patients commonly experiencing snoring symptoms, treatment from DEKA QuietNite can be used annually, even during regular cleanings and hygiene visits.
What Does DEKA QuietNite Cost?
The cost of DEKA QuietNite treatment ranges between $750 and $950 per application depending on complexity. Many offices offer 0% short-term in-house financing for those who request it.
Insurance will likely not cover DEKA QuietNite procedures. Both dental and medical insurance view DEKA QuietNite as an “elective” procedure. However, you can use the pre-tax dollars in your flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) toward DEKA QuietNite treatment. Your FSA/HSA is managed by your employer, and you pay money into the account throughout the year, usually through a deduction from your paycheck. You may set aside up to $2,700 annually, but not all employers offer an FSA or HSA.
Why DEKA?
DEKA CO2 lasers offer the ultimate in soft tissue therapies — as well as treatments in all areas of general dentistry, periodontics, and oral & maxillofacial surgery.
For more than 30 years DEKA has been innovating the world with medical laser systems and new therapies. Improving the work of doctors and the well-being of their patients in the commitment that our founders continue to honor today as they have in the past.
DEKA's proprietary UltraSpeed pulse, with high peak powers, allows the clinician the capability to incise tissue with the speed of a scalpel while sealing blood vessels for a bloodless surgical field. The speed of the pulse allows the surrounding tissue time to cool. The result is virtually no trauma to the surrounding tissue. This means faster, more precise incisions, with improved healing properties. In turn, this leads to more effective treatments with next to no downtime-many times without the need for sutures. Because of the laser's precision, power, and control, it is the laser of choice in oral surgery and periodontal procedures. It provides the broadest procedure spectrum of any dental laser available.
